Usually when people see villainous paramilitary cyborgs parachuting in, they run away. In this case, the Cobra Crimson Guard parachuting in were 12″ collectible figures, causing large numbers of Joe fans to run toward them.

The parachute drop was part of the 16th annual International G.I. Joe Collectors’ Convention. 300 of the figures were tossed off the roof of the 40-story convention center into a crowd of ravening fans. Looks like it was a fun event, and it got me thinking — what better way to get the kids off the couch and out into the summer sun than to have your own Joe Drop?

You don’t need to herd kids onto the roof to get the desired effect. Maybe you could launch the action figures via slingshot or simply throw them into the air. The challenging part will be making the parachutes — the rest is just plain fun.
