What do you get when you cross embroidery with Etch-a-Sketch? A pretty geeky idea: Shae (of Shae’s Random Musings) created a red frame with white knobs and then made an embroidery to match the black-on-grey appearance of a typical stair-stepping Etch-a-Sketch doodle.

For you Dr. Horrible fans out there, she also created a cross stitch pattern based on a Captain Hammer quote, plus she seems to have a good number of other equally geeky and creative craft ideas.

Her hand-painted Etch-a-Sketch frames (so you can make your own Etch-a-Sketch embroideries!) are currently selling on Etsy for $15, or if you’re feeling crafty you can follow her tutorial.

Being an Etch-a-Sketch guy myself, I decided to whip up my own version of Shae’s embroidery on an actual Etch-a-Sketch. So here it is: my Etch-a-Sketch version of Shae’s embroidered version of an Etch-a-Sketch drawing.
