The First The Princess and the Frog Trailer Disappoints

Geek Culture

The first trailer for the next Disney Princess film, The Princess and the Frog, is out. It’s the first hand-drawn animated film they’ve made since the utterly forgettable Home on the Range five years ago, so I had high hopes for it, but if the trailer is any indication, it just doesn’t seem to have their usual zing.

I wrote last month about the movie, and how refreshing it is that Disney is finally making a movie with a black princess. But it looks like Tiana is turned into a frog for a fair bit of the movie (else, why make a trailer from this scene?), so does that mean she’s the first green Disney princess, too?

Plus, Tiana is taken completely by surprise that the frog can talk. Didn’t anyone tell her she was in a Disney film?
