NASA Education Outreach Seeks To INSPIRE High School Students

Many parents would have given anything to work for NASA when we were young. A NASA education program seeks to give today’s high school students that very opportunity.

NASA’s Interdisciplinary National Science Program Incorporating Research Experience (INSPIRE) program is an interactive, online, learning community where selected students participate in activities and can interact with their fellow students and parents as well as engineers and scientists at NASA. There are four different levels based on the student’s year in high school and the programs include activities and opportunities appropriate to each grade level.

The online program runs throughout the school year and gives students the opportunity to compete for further experiences the following summer. The experiences range from a VIP tour of a NASA facility for students completing the 9th grade to an 8-week paid internship experience at a NASA facility for students who are completing the 12th grade.

The application window just opened on May 1st and is open until June 30. If you have a high school student that is interested in a career in science or engineering, this would be a great way to encourage them further, help prepare them for college, and even start working on resume building activities.
