Times are tough, even in Shermer, Illinois. The childhood home of Cameron Frye, beloved best friend of Ferris Bueller, is on the market for a mere $2.3 million.

The housing market in the Chicagoland area is expected to dip about 14% this year, creating some opportunities for anyone with the scratch to buy. One of those opportunities is the 5,300 square-foot house located on less than an acre of Highland Park, Illinois where director John Hughes filmed scenes from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a cult classic for anyone growing up in the 1980s. The movie made over $70 million, the equivalent of 30 such homes.
In the film, Ferris and Cameron borrow a collector car, a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California, and spend the day playing hooky in Chicago. The glass showroom is the signature structure, but the home also includes four full baths, a 20×18 master bedroom, and a kitchen almost as big. Perhaps the lack of a paved driveway knocked down the price a bit.
The home—where a beloved Ferrari once did a header into a ravine—was owned at one time by Ben Rose, a photographer from the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art who did some panoramic shots of New York in the 1950s. The location is perfect for sportos, motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, waistoids, dweebies, or dickheads. Agent Meladee Hughes is looking for one righteous dude to make an offer.
Even though $2.3 million buys a lot of kidneys, it isn’t clear if any of the proceeds from a future sale will include a donation to the “Save Ferris” fund. Ferris Bueller’s house isn’t in the neighborhood, located out in Long Beach, California. No word on its availability.
Of course, it will only cost you another $11 million for the car in the garage.
