We are only beginning to understand autism and autism spectrum disorders. These days, 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with autism, however severity can range from mild to severe. It is more common in boys than in girls:  1 in 94 boys is diagnosed. With this kind of prevalence, chances are very good that you know several people who are on the autism spectrum.

April 2nd is World Autism Day, and Wubbzy from the ever so popular show Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! is doing his part to promote awareness and raise some money to fund autism research. He’s teaming up with Autism Speaks, an organization dedicated to promoting awareness and researching causes, prevention and treatment of the disorders. Participate in Walk on the Web with Wubbzy by registering, building a custom web page, and then inviting people you know to visit. They can join your team or donate money.  If you’d rather physically walk to support those with autism, visit Autism Speaks’ Walk Now for Autism and see if there is a walk near you.

This is a great opportunity to help society understand and support what is a very large group of people in all walks of life. Please take the time to learn about the autism spectrum disorders.
