Here at JockDad, we love films with strong, powerful jocks in them who know what they want and know how to get it! There’s something to admire in a movie character who, against all odds, will fight for what they know is right for them. It was tough to pick out the five best out of all the great jocks throughout film history. They may not always have been the winners at the end of the film, but they always tried their best!
5. Fat Bastard – Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
Fat Bastard might not seem like much of a jock, but his background as a sumo wrestler brought him in at number five. Fat Bastard was always dedicated to his mission, and with his imposing presence and outrageous personality he opened doors and won hearts. His dedication to maintaining his awesome physique with his unusual diet is an inspiration to JockDads everywhere.
4. John Kreese – Karate Kid
As the head of Cobra Kai, John Kreese showed the true spirit of free-market competition. While others tried to impose silly regulations and rules on him, John Kreese went the extra mile to make sure that his athletes had the leg up they needed to win. Ultimately he may not have won the championship, but JockDads everywhere can work towards a future where “rules” and “fairness” are a thing of the past.
3. Doug Niedermeyer – Animal House
The head of the ROTC, Doug Niedermeyer enforced the rules, maintained order, and maintained the high standards of the Omega House. His key role in the court hearings against Delta House and his efforts to maintain order in the ensuing chaos earned him a spot at number three. We love all his quotable lines and we also loved his reappearance in this awesome Twister Sister video!
2 Biff Tannen – Back to the Future
Biff is the kind of guy all of us here at JockDad would like to hang out with. A fantastic supervisor, Biff really knew how to get the most work out of his employees. We kept rooting throughout the series for Biff to end up with Lorraine, the girl he deserves, but it wasn’t meant to be. Still, Biff is a shining example of perseverance.
1. Fred “The Ogre” Palowakski – Revenge of the Nerds
Right from his first appearance in the film, you can see that Ogre is a born leader who other people want to emulate.
And who doesn’t recognize his classic “NERRRRRRRRRRDS!” shout today? Ogre embodies the personality and spirit of JockDad more than anyone else we can think of, so we’re naming him our number one film hero.
