ArckAttack will be entertaining us at the team party following the VEX Robotics Competition World Championship in Dallas. The party starts at 6:30pm and runs till 10. Admission for the team party is $10 in advance or $15 at the VEX store at the Dallas Convention Center.

The VRC World Championship starts Thursday April 30 and runs through Saturday May 2nd. More information about the competition can be found on the event page on robotevents.com. I’ll be there a day early to start setting up. Organizing an event with almost 300 teams is a lot more work than I expected.

ArcAttack is doing what they can to "Keep Austin Weird" with their Singing Tesla Coils. Instead of the traditional coils with a mechanical spark gap, ArcAttack uses a pair of DRSSTCs, or Dual-Resonant Solid State Tesla Coils, that can modulate the frequency of the spark and produce audio tones much like the old square wave synthesizers.

Check the video after the jump for a peek at what they have to offer, or, if you have some time to kill, check out this playlist from the Texas Rockfest.
