The First Where the Wild Things Are Trailer Is Out!

Geek Culture

The first official trailer for the movie version of Maurice Sendak’s classic book Where the Wild Things Are, directed by Spike Jonze, has been released!

You can watch a low-resolution copy of the trailer on the embedded YouTube video, below, or go to Apple’s official trailer webpage to watch it in awesomely good (but sadly unembeddable) HD. It’s just absolutely stunning visually, and it looks (though it’s hard to tell for certain, of course) like the additions made to turn the fairly short book into a feature-length film are reasonable within the context of the story. That doesn’t surprise me, given that I’ve heard that the screenwriters (Jonze and novelist Dave Eggers) consulted with Sendak throughout their writing process. I can now officially not wait for October, when the film comes out!
