An eight year-old Thai boy with autism was frightened on his first day at a Bangkok special needs school. He climbed out on a third floor ledge and refused to come back inside. The Bangkok Fire Department was called to the scene when teachers efforts to coax the boy back in were unsuccessful.

Authorities were running out of ideas on how to rescue the boy when Firefighter Sonchai Yoosabai overhead the boy’s mother mention his love of superheroes. So, naturally, he raced back to the fire station and changed into his Spider-Man costume.

"I
told him Spider-Man is here to rescue you, no monsters are going to attack you and I told him to walk slowly towards me as running could be dangerous," Somchai told local television.

The young boy immediately stood up and walked into his rescuer’s arms, police said.

Somchai said he keeps the Spider-Man costume and an outfit of Japanese television character Ultraman at the station in order to liven up school fire drills.

Way to go, Spidey!
