Being a film and TV buff is a kind of geekiness.  My wife and I have it pretty bad, especially our knowledge of and fondness for actors who may never have been big stars, but who made good careers out of guest spots on television series.

Which is why both my wife and I were sad when we saw the news that actor Pat Hingle passed away this last weekend from leukemia.  Hingle is most well known for portraying Commissioner Gordon in the four Batman movies from 1989 to 1997, but his list of movie and TV credits dates back to the ’50s, and includes many geeky and non-geeky shows that many of us grew up watching, including Twilight Zone, Mission Impossible, Bonanza, Ironside, Kung Fu, Streets of San Francisco, Six Million Dollar Man, M*A*S*H*, Simon and Simon, Magnum P.I., Amazing Stories, The Equalizer, and many more, though that’s a damned good list.
