Have a Merry Christmas. Or Not.

Hacking the Holidays

Okay – as parents we work very hard to craft the perfect holidays for our kids.  We plan the presents, work on instilling traditions and want memories that will last a lifetime.  Sometimes it works…and sometimes it doesn’t.  Here’s to all the parents that wanted the very Merry Christmas – and didn’t quite get what they hoped for.

My search started with the Chicago Tribune and led to several other sites (listed below).  My absolute favorite has got to be this picture:

Scared_by_santaScared_by_santa

Usually the pictures are of one of the children scared by the strange man, dressed in red, smiling for the camera…This picture gets the tri-fecta – three kids, screaming and wiggling to get out of the way…all the while Santa smiles happily at the camera.  It’s almost like he’s thinking "Been there. Done that. Next!" (and perhaps muttering under his breath some words that aren’t suitable for a family-friendly blog)

Some of the other places you can take a peek at other kids not enjoying their moment with Santa can be found at:

Just remember – these kinds of photos will be funny when the kids are older.  We just spent the night looking through photos from the past 4 years. The GeekTeen thought her hair was weird just 4 years ago (all I can say it wait until you’re MY age and you look back…) and the younger ones think they look funny and little.

So, if you’ve got a "good" photo – post it to the GeekDad Flickr Group… and share your stories in the comments…because we’ve ALL been there.
