Today marks the 55th birthday of acclaimed writer, beard aficionado, and occasional Simpsons guest star Alan Moore, co-creator of such bleak and unabashedly brilliant geek fare as V for Vendetta and From Hell. We at GeekDad would like to recommend that you celebrate this most special of days by curling up with Moore’s classic fiction meta-mash-up The League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Though, truthfully, Alan himself would probably prefer you observe the day of his birth by vowing not to watch next year’s film adaptation of Watchmen.
