How to Hack a White Noise Generator to Help Your Baby Sleep

A friend of mine who recently became a geekdad for the first time had this great little middle-of-the-night hack to share:

This morning at about 5:30 AM, I made a ten second recording of water running in our sink. I imported this sound into a music editing program and copied and pasted it about 360 times to get a one-hour loop. I then exported the "song" to CD.

It has been on repeat for the past several hours.

The baby sleeps.  And the water bill got a little less scary.

Sometimes it’s those little geeky things that make it easier to be a dad.

(The awesome iPoo’d onesie at right is modeled by the baby in question. Get those snarky t-shirts started early!)

(Ed. Note: both Garageband and Audacity are great sound editors for this kind of job!)
