In case you’ve been hiding in a cave somewhere or, well, just not paying that much attention to video game news for the last couple years, there’s an eagerly anticipated new game coming out in September called Spore, from SimCity mastermind Will Wright. I’m not going to explain the whole thing here, and between the demo below and the links, you should be able to get the idea. Just know that it’s going to be HUGE and a ton of fun.
What’s important right now is that the publishers are putting out the Creature Creator part of the game early, to give players a taste of what it’s like to build lifeforms in the game. It’ll be officially available on the 17th. However, even cooler, is that they are pre-releasing it to a bunch of people to get some early content (and PR) – and for some strange reason, they’ve asked me to be a part of it! So, as of tomorrow, I get to start making creatures for Spore, and I darn well plan to share them with the GeekDad community, so stay tuned!
