CAPE Day 2008 in Dallas

Geek Culture

Travis and PaulTravis and Paul

Travis and I spent the afternoon in Dallas at CAPE Day, one of the many celebrations of Free Comic Book Day.  We had a fun time talking to the artists, picking up free schwag and buying a few books.  I picked up a HULK book for Travis from Paul Benjamin who was nice enough to sign it and pose for the picture here.

The free comics themselves were available at Zeus Comics just a block down the street from the park.  There were a lot of people waiting in line for the free comics.  The selection was dwindling when Travis and I made it through the line, but we still scored a few good age appropriate ones.

In total we picked up about 10 pounds of comics, posters, and samples, including a nice stack of 25 cent comics. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with the kid and not spend too much money.

I posted a few pictures on flickr here: CAPE Day 2008 on Flickr
