This one is really, really cool and I’m totally planning on stopping by to watch the aquatic carnage!
The Western Warship Combat Club has an entire outdoor arena at Maker Faire, complete with a 30′ x 60′ pond and bleachers for spectators. There will be carnage and mayhem! Two robotic fleets – The Axis vs Alies – battle twice a day (with a bonus night battle tentatively scheduled for
Saturday), complete with live fire, damage, sinking, rebuilding, and revenge sorties as captains demonstrate their maneuvering and strategic skills. If you’ve always wanted to see model warships pound each other into submission, here’s your chance.
And remember, GeekDad will have a booth at Maker Faire as well. Planned activities include geeky cupcake decorating, Chris Anderson’s DIY Drones, some cool electronics, and rockets! I’m going to try and do some liveblogging, posting pictures of the cupcakes and other activities, and there’s going to be a bunch of Wired Magazine schwag given away at the booth, so stop on by!
