March is Woman’s History Month. For those of us rasing geeks of the female variety, there are many good lessons to teach that there’s a place for them in the Geek-world just the same as boys. And why not start them off in one of geek-dom’s most hallowed halls: space exploration. This article from NPR gives a good history of women in the space program from the Mercury 13 on up to the present astronauts, scientists, and mission commanders who "man" the missions on board the ISS and space shuttles.
