Sci-Fi/Fantasy Cinema Meets Russian Woodcuts

Two things we Geekdads adore are nerdy films and Russian folk art. Okay, maybe that’s not entirely true, but artist Andrey Kuznetsovhas has combined these two very disparate elements to create a series of reinterpretations that one must see to believe.

Geek classics from The Hobbit to The Matrix and from Star Wars to Spider-Man are represented along with a few that appear mysteriously ambivalent. Regardless of whether you can identify them all, they represent the kind of stark juxtaposition that our tribe simply can not resist.

Check out /Film to view the full set in all its glory and Andrey’s profile at Hieru.ru for more info on the artist himself. Assuming, of course, that the problem with the site’s translation link has been resolved or that you’re really comfortable with Cyrillic.
