Curled_hand_for_wiredCurled_hand_for_wiredIs there a steam-punk equivalent for paper models? This robot hand uses stiff cardboard, drinking straws and string (I left out the silicon rubber — too complicated and unnecessary) but it’s really cool how the fingers curl up!

We originally built these to learn how tendons work. But we’ve also delved into robot literature and movies, as well as, you know, electronic stuff. You can check out some of my favorite robot-related websites to share with the kids in the archives of my self-syndicated column Family Online.
