5 Dangerous Things You Should Let Your Kids Do

Geek Culture

Over at TED, Gever Tulley lays out 5 dangerous things you should let your kids do

An awesome and bold list that is as basic as it gets and should tickle the fancy of every geekdad. I’ve let my kids indulge in only two of the five I’m sorry to say, but I like the idea of getting to at least four. I think I will start by getting my kids to make and throw a spear (which should majorly appeal to my son since his mind dwells in prehistoric times most days anyway). Gever runs The Tinkering School, a summer camp in California that allows kids 7 to 17 build whatever they can imagine. As he states in the TED talk, he does "put power tools in the hands of second graders," which is very cool. I am sad that I am in NJ and so far away. I think such a "school" should be taken up privately this summer by every geekdad and geekkid.
