3D on Regular Old Displays

Geek Culture

Immersive 3D at home just got a lot simpler and cheaper.

CMU researcher Johnny Lee has hacked the Wiimote to perform head tracking. Translation: Amazing three-dimensionality with regular old displays, potentially available on a Wii or other system near you.

Outside of the gaming space, there are some intriguing interface possbilities, too.  Imagine combining Lee’s 3D head tracking with Jeff Han’s multitouch tech for starters.  Graphics geeks and hardware hackers of the world, unite!
