For the Geekparents in our readership with new Geeklets, we have found Green to Grow, a family company producing baby bottles and other infant products out of materials that are environmentally-friendly and non-toxic.

Baby bottles are made from PES plastic, which gives them a natural golden color. They are free of phthalates and free of bisphenol A – a suspected hormone-disrupting chemical used in polycarbonate plastic, from which most baby bottles are made.

  • Bottles are tested in the U.S. to ensure they meet the highest standards for quality and safety
  • Free of lead and PVC
  • Includes a Beginner (slow flow, 0-3 months) nitrosamine-free silicone nipple
  • 100% recycled packaging
  • Dishwasher safe (top rack)

It’s really nice to see alternatives like these coming to the market these days, especially as we all see the carelessness with which some products have been made in the past.  Found via Treehugger.

Update:  Reader Gerry writes in to point out (quite reasonably):

GeekDads know that the ultimate in baby-bottles are breasts.  Portable, no extra sanitation procedures and comes with every new Mom!  Bonus marks for geeklets as science shows that higher IQ correlates with breastfeeding.

I have nothing against these brilliant, progressive bottles.
GeekDads don’t have breasts and need bottles to help feed our geeklets.  I just thought that pointing out that the bottles should be filled with breastmilk and not formula is warranted considering out geekiness!

Second Update:  Reader Dylan in the comments also makes the following suggestion:

We have used these and they are great as well:

They get banged up a bit, but they rock.  We the parents each have one too 🙂

Awesome more people are jumping onto the non/less toxic bandwagon.

Thanks to both of you for the great additional info!
