The up and down arrow buttons snapped off the laptop Sunday during Star Wars Lego 2 demo. I knew that more keys would spring free, so I laid down the law.
"Turn off the game, please."
"Aaagh, but Daaaaaad, we’ve got four mini-kit pieces, and we’ll lose them if we quit."
"Turn off the game. The laptop is very expensive and out of warranty."
I wanted to help them understand the value of the laptop, but $2,000 is not significant to them. How do I get the message across?
"How much is the gecko you’ve been saving for 5 months to buy?
"$50"
"How many times does 50 go into 2,000?"
. . . a thoughtful moment. "40"
"The computer is like 40 geckos"
End of argument, Besides "Star Wars Tech" was on the History Channel. (Any ideas on how I can use gecko’s to explain Microwave shielding and the death ray?)
Update: Yes, we will be getting an external keyboard already, just didn’t have one handy.
