The National Air & Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center is having a free Become a Pilot Family Day on June 16. The museum, which I’ve mentioned before, is located next to Dulles Airport in Northern Virginia.
The event is going to have a lot of airplanes and helicopters outside the museum for close inspection, and apparently they’ll even let you sit in the cockpits of some! They’re also having a bunch of activities for grownups and kids.
If you live in the greater DC metropolitan area, I highly recommend this (I know my family will be there!). If you don’t, but are considering a visit, the museum is easily accessible, with ample parking (for a $12 fee) and with a shuttle bus from Dulles Airport.
