The Web 2.0 edition of Logo has arrived, and its name is Scratch. Scratch is a new free programming tool from MIT’s Media Lab that lets anyone new to programming, young or old, learn the essentials without being constrained by the fault-intolerant behavior of conventional programming languages. It also lets users share their programs online (or will, once the website recovers from its Slashdotting). They’ve created a video introduction to Scratch:
Scratch has already been covered by Slashdot, via the Boston Globe. Still, I’m a programmer by trade, and I’m really excited to have a new tool to help my kids learn to program, and I wanted to make sure other GeekDads knew about it, too.
