GeedDad reader Greg wrote in to tell me about Hackety Hack, a set of tutorials for teaching teens how to program in Ruby.

Remember how easy it was to get started programming in the built-in BASIC that came on microcomputers in the early 1980s?  On those trash 80s, vic 20s and timex sinclairs?

Hackety Hack is intended to provide much the same experience, but provides more modern examples, so kids can learn to make their own blogs and download MP3s.

It’s currently available for Windows only, but the creator says that OS X and Unix versions are in the works.
