I love being a DM. It scratches a creative itch for me. Creating an adventure, running it, improvising when necessary to counter whatever craziness the players throw my way–these are all aspects of the job that I absolutely enjoy. Toss in the smiles and laughs of my players at the end of a session as they recall one or two significant events from the night, and there are moments when I could be convinced to actually pay to sit in that chair.

Behind the Scenes With Big Hero 6

Continuing the streak that began with Tangled, Disney Animation’s next feature is also their first animated adaptation of a Marvel property, Big Hero 6. Not long ago, I was invited to spend a day at the studio with the artists behind this new film. We met the producer, directors, designers and artists, many of whom also worked on Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph and Tangled. We saw storyboards, concept art and several extended sequences of the heroes in action and spoke with the animators who put it all together.

The Wizard of Oz in IMAX 3D

On August 15, 1939, The Wizard of Oz held its red carpet premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. On September 20 of this year, in celebration of the film’s upcoming 75th anniversary, a completely remastered 3D IMAX version of the film premiered at what is now the TCL Chinese Theatre to open the largest IMAX auditorium in the world. The Wizard of Oz is now playing in over 300 IMAX theaters in the US and 11 in Canada.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo DS

I was really excited to get this game downloaded to my son’s Nintendo 3DS. I’ve been a fan of Mario since my parents bought our family the first Nintendo system when I was 6 years old (did I just age myself?) and we played the original Mario Bros. Thankfully the games have come a long way since I was a kid and I’m happy to say this game keeps in with the spirit of the characters and the storyline.
