I’ve made no secret of being a big fan of Rory’s Story Cubes. I’ve thought they were the bee’s knees since I first discovered them in 2010, back when the original set was the only set.

Today, there are quite a number of expansions, including: Actions and Voyages, MAX, and the mini-expansions of Prehistoria, Enchanted, Medic, Intergalactic, Score, and Clues. Now the Cubes are coming out in versions that appeal to those in certain fandoms. Introducing, Rory’s Story Cubes: Batman.

I’m sure most of you are quite familiar with the Batman franchise, in all its comic book, movie, and The Brave and the Bold glory. But unless you write fanfiction or love to cosplay as someone from the Batman universe, you’ve probably not concocted your own Batman tales. Perhaps you would prefer a different origin story. Or maybe you think Batman should become one of the bad guys for once. Or you just want to solve custom crimes, chosen by you, with Batman at the helm. You can make these stories a reality with this new dice set.

Rory’s Story Cubes: Batman plays like all the other Cubes sets that come before it. Roll the nine dice, arrange the Cubes, and begin to tell your story. You can divide them up into a beginning, middle, and end, or you can just dive in. Tell a long story, or a short one. Write it down. Make a YouTube video. Play by yourself, or with a group. Play with your kids!

Once you’ve exhausted all of your creative ideas for how to use the new Batman Cubes, check out my review of the original Rory’s Story Cubes set from a few years ago, which includes plenty of ideas for play. You can also visit the Rory’s Story Cubes website for plenty of other ideas.

This new Cubes set has all new art and a cleverly designed carrying case. The packaging even has some hidden details that are fun to explore. The set also includes a handy guide sheet displaying all of the faces of each die, so players can refer to it and hope to get certain images to work with.

Rory’s Story Cubes: Batman is the perfect game/toy to keep in your bag for quick play, to bring to game night, or to do with your kids to teach all kinds of things. It’s never too early to start shopping for the holidays, either.

If you’re not in the United States, get your Cubes directly from the Rory’s Story Cubes site! The Batman set is now up for sale.
