Georgia Boy Receives 3-D Printed, Star Wars Themed Prosthesis

3D Printing Technology

Luke Skywalker and his cybernetic hand have nothing on Liam Porter. This past week, 7-year old Liam, from Augusta, Georgia, received a 3-D printed prosthetic Clone trooper arm (and a visit from his local 501st) in a pretty amazing surprise. Porter was born with a partial left arm and has been without a prosthesis for a little time. His previous prosthetic arm didn’t really do much, but his new one grips and can be articulated. The arm was delivered in a surprise, following an afternoon movie with a friend. You can read more about the arm and Liam’s surprise here, but take a moment and watch the video and see how happy a kid can be. Best Star Wars accessory. Ever.

  1. I’m always proud to be a geek, but these kinds of things REALLY make me proud of my fellow geeks.
