It’s Time to Play the Music, It’s Time to Light the Lights

Entertainment Movies People Places Television

It’s time, at least for me and a group of my fellow bloggers, to meet the Muppets. Also Captain America, and a whole bunch of other folks. Yes, I’m very pleased to be able to say that I’ll be attending next week’s Hollywood premiere of Muppets Most Wanted. And that’s just one of the amazing Disney-related things I’ll be doing next week that I can’t wait to write about here on GeekDad.

I’m also going to get to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which I’m really looking forward to—it’s been nearly three years since Cap got top billing on a film, after all. I’ll also get to see a prescreening of the new Disneynature film Bears, which promises to be amazing because, well, I like bears. And I’ll also get to visit the sets of several ABC television shows.

And, as if all that weren’t way more than enough, interspersed with all these other events, the other bloggers and I will get to talk to a lot of the stars of the various movies we’ll be seeing, as well as a lot of ABC TV show cast members. The list of interviews includes Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the villainous Constantine, as well as humans Chris Evans (Cap), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Muppets Most Wanted director James Bobin, and the awesome Ming-Na Wen of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (and formerly the voice of Mulan, and a cast member on Stargate: Universe, among many other things). And that’s only a sampling of the interviews we’ll have.

To say that I’m excited is putting it mildly. I’ve been a huge Muppets fan for as long as I can remember, and a Marvel Comics fan for nearly as long. I promise to do my best to convey what I see and learn to GeekDad’s readers after I come home.

To that end, if you have a question related to any of the subjects I mentioned above, please leave a comment on this post, and if I like it I’ll try to ask it of the relevant people/Muppets. I leave Sunday morning, so don’t wait too long.

Muppets Most Wanted will be released in theaters on March 21, 2014.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be released in theaters on April 4, 2014.
Disneynature’s Bears will be released in theaters on April 18, 2014.

Disney is providing my attendance of the junket and related transportation. All opinions I express in this and future articles on the subject are my own.

  1. Ask Chris if he’s heard any rumors of a Push 2? That movie’s developed into bit of a cult classic and I’d love to see the characters return for some more trouble.

  2. So far Chris Evans has played 2 marvel superheroes on screen. I think it would be interesting to ask him if there have been other superhero roles offered to him that fell through or he turned down, or if there’s any others he’d be interested in playing if he had the chance.
