Happy Birthday, Nathan Fillion!

Birthdays & Anniversaries

One of my favorite actors, and a man of many talents, Nathan Fillion, celebrates another year in the verse. Most of you are familiar with his roles as Rick Castle or Captain Mal, but I encourage you to explore some of his lesser known characters. My recent favorite is Constable Dogberry in Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing.

One thing Nathan does each year on his birthday is encourage people to donate to Charity: Water. This is a non-profit with the lofty goal of bringing clean and safe drinking water to every person on the planet. Seems daunting, but over the last two year Nathan’s fans have provided water for over 8,000 people. If you’re able, consider joining the cause and you could win a lunch date with Nathan for yourself and a friend, airfare is included.

If you need any encouragwment to see Much Ado About Nothing, here’s the hilarious trailer. I can’t find it streaming anywhere for free, but the DVD is available on Amazon for cheap: Much Ado About Nothing

Happy Birthday Nathan, may the next year in the ‘Verse be as great as the last!

  1. I remember him from a show way back called Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place. It had Ryan Reynolds in it… a very young Ryan and a very young Nathan. I’m happy to see that both of their careers have developed.

Miss Firefly so much, but it’s also good to see Nathan in other roles. My wife and I rarely miss Castle (and I love the occasional nods or outright punches to his other roles in the show). Happy Birthday to you, Mr. Fillion.
