Songs for Unusual Creatures: The Glass Frog

Education Music Videos

This week’s episode of Songs for Unusual Creatures is about the glass frog, a tiny frog whose skin is so translucent that you can see its internal organs. It reminds me of the “Visible Man” model. For the glass frog’s song, Michael Hearst incorporated the glass armonica, an instrument invented by Benjamin Franklin based on the old ringing wine glass trick. Hearst’s friend Cecilia Brauer plays the glass armonica in the video. I’d love to see the glass armonica make a comeback.
