Win a Doctor Giveaway: The Ninth Doctor

Entertainment Geek Culture Television
Tenth Doctor Blue-Ray DVD set
NINTH Doctor Blu-Ray DVD set

NOTE: There’s good news, and there’s bad news. The bad news is that this contest had to be pulled due to wibbly-wobbly… timey-wimey… stuff (and the fact that Jason is a very confused person). So we are NOT giving away Ninth Doctor DVDs by themselves. The really good news is that we are giving away the amazingly cool Doctor Who Gift set and you can enter on that page. Never fear, if you entered on this page or using the twitter code below, you are now entered in the gift set giveaway as well.

Next Saturday is the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. To celebrate, this week GeekDad is giving away the entire run of each of the “new” Doctors (9th, 10th, and 11th) on Blu-Ray.

Today, it’s the Ninth Doctor on Blu-Ray DVD. This includes:

  • Doctor Who: The Complete First Series
  • Doctor Who: The Brit List’s Doctor Who Ultimate List of Lists, The Best of the Christmas Specials, Doctor Who at the Proms

  1. Wow… my favorite Ten episode? That’s pretty hard! I’m going to have to go with The Satan Pit because of the intensity he shows in that one. He does such a great job with funny, that it’s awesome to see his seriously powerful side, too.

    1. Maria, sorry, but due to an error in the space time continuum, I accidentally posted the wrong days contest. Today is for the Ninth doctor. I’ll count this entry for Wednesday’s 10th Doctor contest. Feel free to add another entry here for the 9th Doctor.

      1. wow, probably the empty child…obviously (like many others) for captain jack harkness and how the plot always managed to surprise you – and was slightly creepy, which made it more fun 🙂

  2. I, and my whole family, have always loved “Blink” When my daughter (now 5) was only 3 years old, she had the entire “Don’t blink…” monologue memorized. Solid writing, solid performances, one of the scariest Dr. Who villains ever

    1. Dave, sorry, but due to an error in the space time continuum, I accidentally posted the wrong days contest. Today is for the Ninth doctor. I’ll count this entry for Wednesday’s 10th Doctor contest. Feel free to add another entry here for the 9th Doctor.

Also, you need to be registered with some way to contact you, otherwise I can’t contact you if you win.

  3. Picking a Favorite David Tennant/Tenth Doctor Episode is like trying to pick a favorite child… it’s hard to do… One of my all time most favorite episodes is ‘School Reunion’. To see The Doctor’s face light up when he sees Sarah Jane Smith (played by the lovely Elisabeth Sladen) for the first time since he left her way back in Season 14 is absolutely magical… I mean here is David Tennant seeing a companion, one of his favorite companions from his childhood, in person. It’s one of the best moments… It also features K-9 and the ever so awesome Anthony Head… It really is a great episode.

    1. Nathan, sorry, but due to an error in the space time continuum, I accidentally posted the wrong days contest. Today is for the Ninth doctor. I’ll count this entry for Wednesday’s 10th Doctor contest. Feel free to add another entry here for the 9th Doctor.

  4. 9th Doctor – it would be Father’s Day. It was one of the things we would expect most companions to ask – can I go back and change a tragedy from my past?

  5. Favorite 9th Doctor’s episode would be The Empty Child. Aside from the fact that it introduces Capt. Jack Harkness, a character so fantastic he gets his own show, it had all the right elements of a great Dr. Who – creepy, mysterious and intruiging. You could never guess why this was happening and naturally it ended on a cliff-hangar which made the next episode essential watching.

  6. Can I cheat and say my favorite is a two parter? Human Nature/Family of Blood is one of the best story lines from the new run of the series, IMO.

  7. I’m with many others with The Empty Child. I love how they flash back later when the Doctor grabs a gas mask and says, “Are you my mummy?”

  8. I love Chris still hopping he is in the 50th!

Difficult to say which eps were my fave.

It’s easy to say the Moffat couplet but I really like the WW3 two parter as well. However I tend to find myself re-watching “End of the world” a lot.

I am one of the few people that liked “The Long Game”

I really liked Boom Town too. Gah! Maybe I need to watch it on Blu Ray to decide…..

Final answer: Okay Aliens of London? Fun seeing Big Ben being smashed into. The Doctor waving at the cameras. Having a glimpse of his history with UNIT. The Doctor chasing a pig down a hall way. Harriet Jones, MP, Flydale North! Okay I really do need to rewatch it now.

  9. Hi!
My favorite Ninth Doctor one is probably the Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways two-parter. I think it was a perfect climax to his journey and really showed different sides to the Doctor and how he grew over the season!

    Thanks!

  10. Chris Eccleston is probably my favorite Doctor, so I have a hard time choosing. I even wrote a whole post about my favorite episodes from the season! I might have to go with Father’s Day. It was one of my first Doctor Who episodes, and the first one to seriously tug at my heart strings. Though his speech about “who I am” in Rose is what sold me on the series itself!

  11. Christopher Eccleston was the foundation stone that laid the new series. Without him there would be no Tennant, Smith or Capaldi. What he gave us was a legacy to television, 13 episodes of never to be forgotten episodes. Plus the fact that he’s a really nice bloke in real life having met him on more than one occasion, the last one being at the “Thor 2” premiere in London.

  12. I have to say “The Empty Child.” It’s not an original answer, but there’s a reason it’s so popular. My wife and I were seriously creeped out.

  13. I have to go with Empty Child, too. Of all the episodes, that one (along with the second part) has just stayed with me more than any other.

  14. any of the episodes with Rose, but especially the episode titled “Rose” love how she was intro’d!!!

  15. I’m going to add my voice to those saying Father’s Day. I discovered the Ninth Doctor while sitting up with my son, who had a horrible ear infection and couldn’t sleep and I now watch every new episode with both him and his big sister. So the theme speaks to me.
