With less than six months to go until the next instalment of Peter Jackson’s epic expansion of Tolkien’s other famous book hits the screens, the first production diary video for The Desolation Of Smaug (technically the 11th overall) has been released. It starts off with some bad news for fans regarding Comic-Con, but continues with more fascinating glimpses into the world of Middle-earth movie making.
We learn about some the problems involved with ‘picks-ups’ – the additional scenes, shot much later than the principle photography, that Jackson has added to pad, er, sorry, extend the book into a trilogy. These include the availability of cast and crew, child actors growing up, extras putting on weight, sets having to be rebuilt, costumes and props coming out of storage, and – most of all – the importance of consistent poo for Radagast!
There are a few glimpses of the main returning cast, a little chat with elves Orlando Bloom and Evangeline Lilly, and a trailer for a new dwarf work-out video! Watch the whole thing below and don’t forget to check out the trailer over on the official site.
