Portland/Vancouver Teens Meet GeekDad Staff at Animania

Animania FVRL

The Vancouver Community Library in downtown Vancouver is hosting its first mini comic-con for teens this Saturday, July 27, 2013. Animania will feature Eisner-nominated cartoonist Jeremy Barlow, whose credits include issues of Mass Effect, Homeworlds, and Star Wars Rebellion, among others; as well as Jake Richmond who writes Modest Medusa; and Becky Hawkins who created French Toast Comix. Geekdad’s Erik Wecks and Jonathan Liu will be there as well along with GeekMom Cathé Post.

The day includes a cosplay contest for teens (teen-appropriate costumes, please!), anime viewing, video games in the teen center, a Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament, a Harry Potter dueling contest, and more. You can read the complete schedule here.

If you are a Portland area teen and interested in self-publishing either comics or books, Jake Richmond, Becky Hawkins and myself will hold a self-publishing panel at noon. We all look forward to seeing you there!
