Toon Hero iPad App Makes Animation Easy

Geek Culture Toys

Brands are usually too nervous to let anyone else use their characters and locations. However, a New Zealand based company called Trigger Happy is in the process of successfully persuading some particularly big ones that letting customers lose with their intellectual property is the way to go.

Toon Hero is their new iPad app that aims to put familiar cartoon characters in the hands of everyday people to create and share animations and stories.

In some ways it’s similar to the Toy Box offering in Disney Infinity. There you can tell stories with complex interactions and Disney characters drawn from different franchises. Toon Hero lets you tell stories but with gestures, sounds and theatrical devices and using characters drawn from a much wider set of worlds.

It will be interesting to see who is on board when the app launches later in the year. I hope Skylanders are listening as me kids would love to create their own Chop Chop, Boomer and Stealth Elf adventure stories.

    1. That does look quite similar. Maybe the difference is that Toon Hero will let you use franchise characters?
