LucasArts, the game company that brought us some great point-and-click adventure games like Maniac Mansion, Full Throttle, and Sam & Max Hit the Road, reached the end of its adventure today. GameInformer reported that Disney (which acquired LucasFilm and LucasArts last October) is closing the videogames division and instead moving to a licensing model instead.
The anticipated Star Wars 1313 might still survive, but a lot of people were laid off today and the promise that there will still be Star Wars games in the future may be small consolation to them. Our sympathies to all of the LucasArts folks: may the Force be with you always, even if Disney apparently isn’t.
